- ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA), a celebration of the best films and filmmakers around the region, providing a platform to promote ASEAN films to the international market and facilitating collaborations and networking within the ASEAN film industry and provide business opportunities for film distributors and exihibitors - to be represented by Livan Tajang, the Festival Director of AIFFA
The Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), a non-profit association that seeks to unify media producers and media financiers in the region. The association's mission is to advance creative development across the region, promote Southeast Asian audio-visual content and capabilities internationally, as well as stimulate business collaborations between its members. SAAVA, the region's largest media investment and creative producing network will be represented by Leon Tan, SAAVA Malaysia Chapter Head.
- The alliance between SAAVA and AIFFA in establishing AIFFA Biz World, a 1-day speed pitching platform within the AIFFA framework to introduce filmmakers with projects in development to meet with regional film investors. The platform is to make funders and financing more accessible to filmmakers as well as the knowledge and education of how the film business works in ASEAN and internationally.
This will include a discussion by producers on how international and regional co-productions work and how to create meaningful relationships between film professionals across ASEAN.
AIFFA will create and market a list of filmmakers interested to pitch and attend the conference session while SAAVA will programme and bring their contingent of financiers to the event meet the filmmakers as well as share their experiences and discuss what they are looking for.
Projects that aim to be pitched will have a better chance of being picked and followed up by financiers if they are feature film projects with high-concepts such as science-fiction, horror, action, and thrillers.
The speed pitching is open to both seasoned and first-time writers / directors / producers.
Project pitches should prepare a deck with the idea of story, a budget, and other visual material that will help financiers be interested in the project. All pitches will be done in English.
Each pitch session will last 15 minutes but an interested financier will follow up with the projects they are interested in working with on a separate basis so it's important for participants to leave a good impression and have working contact details.
